La Quinta Corston era una encantadora “cabaña” con paredes cubiertas de hiedra. Había sido construida por su antiguo dueño escocés. Los Jones compartieron su hogar con el personal, y la casa con frecuencia estaba atestada de visitantes.

El salón de visitas fue el original estudio de radio de HCJB. Al portal adjunto se lo convirtió en la “sala de controles”. Jones hizo una abertura en la gruesa pared de adobe que separaba a los dos cuartos e instaló un único panel de vidrio para hacerla a prueba de ruidos.

Los controles del estudio inicialmente fueron dos simples interruptores; el uno era para el tocadiscos y el otro para el único micrófono que había.

La Quinta Corston, actualmente está ubicada entre la 12 de Octubre y Leonidas Plaza, y la Presidente Wilson y General Veintimilla.

On the Quinta Corston property was a charming ivy covered “cottage” built by the former Scottish owner. The Jones’  shared their home with Other staff and the house was frequently crowded with guests.

The formal sitting room was used as the original HCJB radio studio. The adjoining enclosed porch was converted into the control “room”. Jones cut an opening through the thick adobe wall between the two rooms and installed a single pane of glass to make it more soundproof.

The studio controls consisted initially of two simple switches, one for the record player and the Other for the single microphone.
