El Dr. Paul Roberts tuvo un sueño mayor que solo el de una pequeña clínica indígena. Él quería un hospital grande y moderno en donde todos recibieran la mejor atención médica posible, sin importar raza, clase social o solvencia económica.

En 1953, se adquirió un terreno para construir el hospital. Los materiales para esta obra llegaron de varios países del mundo. 

Se inauguró el 12 de octubre de 1955. El primer año atendió unos 10,000 pacientes externos, 1000 internos y 255 nacimientos. 

El hospital dio inicio a una amplia renovación en 1987 que aumentó su capacidad, y en 1996, el Hospital Vozandes-Quito se lo dedicó a “La Gloria de Dios y al Servicio de Ecuador.” 

El hospital ahora atiende a unos 160.000 pacientes cada año.

Dr. Paul Roberts had a much larger vision than a small indigenous clinic. 

He wanted a large, modern hospital where everyone could receive the best medical care possible, regardless of race, social status or ability to pay. 

Land for the hospital was purchased in 1953. Materials for it came from countries around the world. The hospital was officially opened in 1955. 

During the first year around 1,000 inpatients and 10,000 outpatients were treated, and there were 255 births. 

The hospital began extensive renovation in 1987 and was greatly expanded. In 1996, Hospital Vozandes-Quito was rededicated “To the glory of God and to the service of Ecuador.”

Hospital Vozandes-Quito now serves around 160,000 patients a year.
